SUMMARY FROM JOHN DEBENS:

Following my retirement from seven years as PWA7C Chairman, I formed the Group from scratch, in September 2009.

The aim was to facilitate social meetings and events, to cater for the needs of purely PWA7C Members, locally, based on the principles upon which social groups were originally formed in the 1960s. I hoped that over a period of time, stronger bonds and friendships would be formed, through integral activity and fellowship. This definitely has happened over time, and the core of up to 30 people, thrives to this day, possibly stronger than ever. We have new members joining the Group, over time, and they are particularly welcomed, and strongly contribute to the success.

The area covered by the Group in terms of area and population, is just about the largest in the Club, but membership is more thinly and evenly spread than in the traditional centre of the Club, around the E Midlands. Membership analysis would help further in this respect.

It’s a simple philosophy, of PWA7C Members only, regular varied meet ups and social meetings, friendship, advice and shared experience, centred around our A7s. Admin is kept to an absolute minimum, and meetings are daytime and weekend, now that we have abandoned the old pub meetings in evenings, when interest picked up, this follows from the age structure, which is in the 60-80 range.

Please make contact if you qualify from the above, and would like to join the Group, and make more of your A7 ownership. The hardest part is probably the initial inertia. And first steps, but remember it-s a two-way process of engagement, to make it work for all. Look forward to meeting you !!!
