The Classic Car Loan Project

The Classic Car Loan Project

The Classic Car Loan Project is sponsored by Peter James Insurance. Its aim is to enable the younger driver to experience the enjoyment of owning a classic car for a period of one year without the financial burden of having to buy one. Cars are loaned by either clubs or private individuals.

About 3 years ago committee member James Cornish suggested that this was something in which the PWA7C could be involved. The Committee agreed and a car was sourced, purchased and checked for roadworthiness.

The 1933 Austin 7 car is now with its second 'owner' Liam Murphy. He provides excellent YouTube footage of his experience with the car, which can be seen on this channel.

Although the PWA7C are naturally biased towards the Austin 7 there are many other cars available through the Scheme. The only stipulations are that:

  1. Drivers must be over the age of 25;
  2. They must have a secure garage to store the car;
  3. They must conform to an agreement covering insurance, general usage and care;
  4. They must make regular reports to the owner or club loaning the car.
